65,000 subscribers. Why start again?

Hey,

I grew my tennis YouTube channel from zero to 65,000 subscribers.

And now I’m starting again.. with a different topic and a new audience.

Because alongside tennis, I love creating. Testing ideas. Building something online and sharing what I learn along the way.

That’s why I started Filipe Creates.

For the next 30 days, my aim is to publish one long-form YouTube video and three Shorts every day.

30 long-form videos. 90 Shorts.

It’s a lot! But I want to share the process with you: what I try, what works, what doesn’t, and what I change.

And if you’ve been thinking about starting your own channel, you can do this with me.

But before you grab your camera, there’s one question I want you to answer:

Who is this video for, and why would they care?

When I make a tennis video, “people who like tennis” is still very broad.

A beginner struggling to keep their forehand in the court has a specific problem I can help with. That gives me a much clearer video to make.

You can do the same with your topic.

Try writing this sentence:

“This video helps [a specific person] with [a specific problem].”

Then choose a title that makes that help clear, and open the video by getting straight to that problem.

You don’t need to fit everything you know into one video. Help with one thing first.

And if you’re still learning yourself? Share something you tried, what happened, and what you learned. Be honest about where you are.

That’s useful too.

I made a free Notion tracker so we can follow our progress through the challenge.

Make your own copy, add your starting subscriber and view totals, then fill in one row each day. Record your uploads and one thing you learned.

My target is four uploads a day. Choose a pace you can actually follow, and if you miss a day, record it honestly and continue.

The numbers give you feedback. The work gives you something to learn from.

So today, choose one person, one question, and record one video that helps.

I’ll be writing here daily, sharing practical lessons from building the channel and the business around it. Sometimes I’ll also share my products or ways we can work together when they’re relevant.

Thank you for being here at the beginning!

See you in tomorrow’s email,

Filipe

P.S. If you’d like personal help with your channel, I also offer a 60-minute strategy call. We can work through your audience, video ideas, titles, and next steps together:

Hey, I reached 4,000 watch hours in seven weeks on my tennis channel. But there’s a part of that story you won’t see in the headline. Those seven weeks came after more than a year of creating short videos. I was practising how to explain tennis, getting comfortable on camera, and helping people recognise my face before I started long-form. The watch hours came later. The practice came first. At the beginning, I wanted to make longer videos, but I wasn’t comfortable speaking English on camera....
