Monetized in 7 weeks. I wouldn’t copy me.

Hey,

I reached 4,000 watch hours in seven weeks on my tennis channel.

But there’s a part of that story you won’t see in the headline.

Those seven weeks came after more than a year of creating short videos. I was practising how to explain tennis, getting comfortable on camera, and helping people recognise my face before I started long-form.

The watch hours came later. The practice came first.

At the beginning, I wanted to make longer videos, but I wasn’t comfortable speaking English on camera. As I say in the video:

“It’s still not perfect, but it’s enough to communicate.”

So I started with Shorts. I used arrows, circles, and simple explanations to help tennis beginners understand one thing at a time.

That gave me practice. And it gave viewers a reason to come back.

By the time I started longer videos, some people already knew me and had learned something from me. I wasn’t introducing myself from scratch every time.

If I were starting again, I wouldn’t wait that long to try long-form. That’s one reason I’m doing this 30-day challenge now: one long video and three Shorts each day.

You don’t need to copy that pace. But you can copy the habit of improving something each time you publish.

Here’s something to try with your next video:

Choose one question your audience asks. Record a useful answer. Then watch it back and pick just one thing to improve next time: the opening, the explanation, or how you speak to the camera.

Write that lesson down before you start the next one.

In the video, I come back to a familiar idea: luck is when opportunity meets preparation. For me, that preparation included years of tennis coaching and all those early attempts at making videos.

Your early uploads can be part of that preparation too.

Seven weeks was my experience, after that earlier work. Your timeline may be different.
